La Porte Community Federal Credit Union offers its members FREE (No Monthly Service Charge) Checking. Members can choose from a wide array of check styles and the cost for checks varies according to your selection. Using duplicate checks lessens the chance of failing to record any entries in your check registry. A monthly statement is sent or e-mailed to you for your records.

Our senior members (60 years of age or older) receive 1 Free box per year. College students receive 1 Free box of checks per year.

Overdraft Protection

What you need to know about Overdrafts and Overdraft fees

An overdraft courtesy pay occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but the credit union covers the transaction anyway. The credit union can cover overdrafts in two different ways:

1. We have standard overdraft transfers that come with your account, covering the overdraft with your funds.
2. We also offer an overdraft protection plan covering the overdraft and putting your share draft account in the negative.

We do authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions using overdraft transfer in either your savings or share draft account.

• ACH

We do authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions using overdraft protection in your share draft account.

1. Share drafts and other transactions made using your share draft account number such as ACH (electronic payments).
2. Automatic bill payments.

We do not authorize and pay the following types of transactions unless you ask us to:

• ATM transactions & everyday debit card transactions.

We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction.

Under our overdraft protection practices:

We will charge you a fee based off a tier each time we pay an overdraft.

1-2 $25.00
3-5 $30.00
6-11 $35.00
12+ $39.00

Under our standard overdraft transfer practices: 

We will charge a $2.00  transfer fee each time we pay an ACH/share draft overdraft and ¢50 for debit card transfers
